Syrian customs official describes targeted tariff amendments, SANA reports

SANA quotes customs official Mazen Alloush saying Decree 188 changes tariffs and classifications for selected equipment and production inputs, including renewable-energy, industrial and medical goods. He says these are targeted changes, not across-the-board reductions. Their intended cost and investment benefits have not been independently measured.

Mazen Alloush, the ports and customs authority's international-relations director, is the claimant for the targeted scope and intended benefits. SANA's complete October 13 interview and October 12 decree account were inspected. The full signed tariff schedule, exact rates, eligibility conditions, commencement provisions and applied customs transactions were not inspected. This is attributed policy reporting, not legal advice or independent verification of lower costs; businesses should not infer entitlement for an unspecified product. The earlier same-agency account is not independent corroboration. No material disagreement was established, but detailed application and results remain unresolved. Time is the fresh interview's publication minute, not decree issuance or implementation timing. The country centroid is representative; no border activity, facilities, shipments or community labels are included.
