Israel’s partial count puts Netanyahu bloc at 56 seats; majority remains out of reach

The Times of Israel reports that, at 9:20 a.m. local time on 28 October, Israel’s Central Elections Committee (CEC) had counted 66.2% of ballot boxes. Its partial figures projected 56 seats for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc, 48 for the bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot, and 16 for Arab parties. The 120-seat Knesset requires 61 seats for a majority. These are provisional calculations from an incomplete count; absentee ballots remain to be counted and the final seat allocation and coalition are unresolved.

ما تثبته المصادر

The Israel Central Elections Committee (CEC) is the claimant and primary source for the official count. The Times of Israel reported the CEC's 9:20 a.m. local snapshot (07:20 UTC) on 28 October: 66.2% of ballot boxes counted, with preliminary seat calculations of 56 for Netanyahu's bloc, 48 for Eisenkot's bloc and 16 for Arab parties. The outlet's live update was published at 9:28 a.m. local time (07:28 UTC). This is independent reporting of the committee's figures, not an independent recount; the official CEC results page is linked, though it requires browser JavaScript. The AP's earlier 06:09 UTC snapshot at about 50% counted is an earlier stage, not a disagreement. Counts remain partial; absentee ballots have not all been included, and final party shares, seat allocation and coalition formation are unresolved. The event marker retains the approximate scheduled election opening time and a representative Israel country-level coordinate, not a polling place.
