UN report says 33,362 Palestinian refugees remain displaced from three West Bank camps

The UN Human Rights Office said Israeli forces displaced the entire populations of Jenin, Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps during Operation Iron Wall in early 2025 and that 33,362 Palestine refugees remained unable to return as of July 2026. The UN said the prolonged displacement and destruction raise serious concerns under international law; Israel says the operation targeted militants and related infrastructure.

ما تثبته المصادر

OHCHR is the primary source for the new report and cites UNRWA for the exact figure of 33,362 people still displaced as of July 2026. Human Rights Watch independently corroborated the underlying mass displacement, return restrictions and destruction through interviews and satellite analysis, but its November 2025 estimate of about 32,000 does not independently validate the newer exact count. DIE ZEIT independently reports the release and includes Israel's stated rationale, while the UN's legal conclusions remain attributed to OHCHR. The Palestinian-refugee label is explicit and material. The publication supplies a date but no exact time, so noon UTC is a representative date-level value.
