Sources and ownership

A source’s type describes its institution, not whether an individual claim is true. Official statements establish what their issuers say. Two copies of one wire report count as one reporting origin. A corroboration label requires editorial assessment of independently produced evidence; a feed match or two URLs cannot supply that judgment.

Ownership is identified where established in the source catalogue. An unverified entry is an open provenance question, not an accusation. Read our verification methodology or send a source correction.

Source breadth over the last seven days

Our target is that no reporting origin appears in more than 15% of new stories in a rolling seven-day window. The publication check rejects proposals that worsen an existing excess or create a new one. It does not remove valid reporting to improve a statistic. Windows with fewer than seven stories are shown for review because a 15% ceiling is not mathematically possible.

81 stories have known publication dates in the current window. 172 retained published stories have no established first-publication date and are excluded; source dates are not substituted. A story can cite more than one origin.
