Iraq's pharmacists warn currency change could raise medicine prices, Shafaq reports

Shafaq's October 8 report says Iraq's Pharmacists Syndicate warned the new exchange rate could raise medicine and medical-supply costs and asked authorities to preserve the previous rate for pharmaceutical imports. The warning is a forecast, not evidence of a measured price increase or new shortage. Announced official rates remain 1,500 dinars for ministry purchases, 1,510 for banks and 1,520 for consumers. Earlier parliamentary debate and bank-supply announcements remain documented; no reversal or practical dollar availability is established.

Kaynakların ortaya koydukları

The Pharmacists Syndicate is the claimant for predicted medicine-cost and supply-chain effects and the requested pharmaceutical-import exemption. Shafaq relays its statement; no original release, independent price survey, procurement data or exemption decision was inspected. No material contrary account of the warning was found. The earlier AP report independently supports agreement on announced rates, not present medicine prices, stocks or dollar access. Parliamentary and bank accounts remain in the source history; debate results and implementation are unresolved. Original publication-minute dating and the representative rounded Iraq marker are retained. No patient identity, pharmacy, warehouse or medical facility is mapped, and no community label is inferred.
