ICRC says it supported release of 159 detainees in Yemen

The International Committee of the Red Cross says 159 people detained in connection with Yemen's conflict were unilaterally released on Saturday with its support. It says it did not select who would be freed. This is an account of a completed release, not evidence of a broader prisoner exchange or peace agreement.

آنچه منابع نشان می‌دهند

The ICRC describes its own involvement in a completed release of 159 people. AP's later roundup separately relays Houthi prisoner-affairs official Abdul-Qader el-Murtaza's same count; that is not an independent physical audit. The ICRC did not determine who was freed, and detention circumstances or combatant status are not established here. Its current headline and body both say 159, although its canonical URL retains 154; no reason for that slug difference is assumed. Timestamp metadata differ across page fields, so event_time represents only the visible October 17 report date, not a release hour. AP's 11:58 UTC update supplies the fresh reporting lead.
