Iraqi prime minister's office reports gas-investment talks with energy companies

Shafaq, citing the prime minister’s media office, reports talks between Ali Al-Zaidi and executives from TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips about increasing associated-gas production. The office says the government aims to end gas imports within the next few years. The account does not establish a new signed investment contract, committed amount, achieved production increase or an end to imports.

The prime minister's media office and Ali Al-Zaidi are the claimants for the talks and future import goal. The Shafaq page embeds a statement attributed to @IraqiPMO, dated October 11, linking https://x.com/IraqiPMO/status/2109325250542358993; opening that post returned 403, so its full timestamp and account state were not independently checked. The inspected Shafaq report, rather than inaccessible X alone, supports this attributed record. The media-office statement and Shafaq's account do not independently establish investment, output or delivery. No company announcement of a new contract or material contrary account was obtained. Publication time is rounded to the minute, not the meeting time.
