Najaf agriculture official describes palm-weevil spread and monitoring, Shafaq reports

Najaf plant-protection chief Amir Sahib al-Haddad told Shafaq News that red palm weevil infestations have been recorded in more than seven Iraqi provinces. He described orchard surveys, trapping and treatment following earlier detections, not a newly detected October 4 outbreak. The extent of spread and treatment results have not been independently audited.
