AFP cites lawyer on French investigation into 2024 Lebanon strike complaint

Lawyer Clemence Bectarte told AFP that two French investigating judges have been appointed to a war-crimes complaint concerning a 2024 strike on a residential building in Beirut. FIDH’s earlier statement records its civil-party complaint filed in April. This is an attributed judicial-process update, not a verdict or a finding that a war crime occurred. AFP said it sought Israeli military comment; no reply appears in the inspected report.

What the sources establish

Bectarte is the claimant for the new judicial step in AFP’s inspected report. The directly inspected FIDH statement identifies her as its litigation lawyer and records the earlier filing; these are connected claimant accounts, not independent corroboration. No appointment order, case docket or judicial determination of criminal responsibility was inspected. Allegations concerning the strike remain allegations here. AFP sought Israeli military comment and the inspected report contains no response. Midnight UTC represents the November 3 report date; the visible publication clock has no inspected UTC offset. The coarse Lebanon marker locates the complaint’s subject, not the French court or a new strike. Private identities, residential addresses and current operational detail are omitted.
