SOCAR announces $1.65 billion Comstock purchase agreement, with closing pending

SOCAR and Comstock say they signed a definitive agreement on November 4 for SOCAR to buy non-operated interests in US natural-gas assets and a gas-services business for $1.65 billion, subject to price adjustments. The companies describe approvals and other closing conditions as outstanding; this is not a completed acquisition or evidence that the purchase price has been paid.

What the sources establish

SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s state oil company, and seller Comstock are the claimants. Their separately issued statements describe the same agreement and agree on the $1.65 billion price before customary adjustments. They are transaction counterparties, not independent reporting origins or evidence of payment or completion. No closing notice or independent transaction audit was inspected. Comstock expects closing by year end subject to conditions; an effective date in July is not the closing date. SOCAR’s November 5 statement supplies the fresh buyer announcement. event_time represents the stated November 4 signing date at date precision; midnight is not an exact signing time. No operational infrastructure detail or community label is added.
