The Arabian Stories, citing preliminary National Centre for Statistics and Information figures, reports Oman’s January–August 2026 merchandise-trade surplus at about RO6.5 billion, versus RO3.9 billion a year earlier. It reports export values up 19.7%. These are historical nominal goods-trade figures, not current vessel flows, physical export volumes or GDP.

What the sources establish

NCSI is the statistical claimant; The Arabian Stories relays its preliminary figures under an Oman News Service byline. The underlying NCSI tables and the new ONA page could not be inspected; the latter failed certificate validation, which was not bypassed. This is not independent measurement or corroboration. Oman Daily had already reported August figures on October 21, so this is not presented as a newly released dataset. Its rounded imports were RO11.8 billion versus RO11.9 billion in the November report; rounding or revision has not been resolved. The surplus is attributed as reported, not recalculated from rounded components. The October ONA source is retained as historical January–July evidence, not freshly reverified. The timestamp is the November report’s publication minute, converted from 08:22:25 at UTC+4 and rounded, not August activity time.

Corrections and updates

Update: Extended the retained January–July trade story to the reported January–August 2026 figures. The linked reporting source, headline totals and publication marker have changed. Earlier rounded August component figures differ and remain unresolved; this is not a claim about current trade movements.
