COUNTRY HUB

Palestine

Reporting tagged Palestine, retaining the distinctions between Gaza, the West Bank, institutions and the communities described by sources.

This hub collects published reporting explicitly tagged Palestine. It provides a route into consequential developments in Gaza and the West Bank while keeping each story's actual geographic description visible. The label is an editorial discovery aid, not a substitute for a report's account of place, legal claims or responsibility. Coverage should address public health, education, livelihoods, rights, governance and cultural life alongside conflict and humanitarian conditions. People should appear as participants in society, with choices and institutions, as well as people affected by harm.

Humanitarian figures need a clearly identified producer, reporting period and definition. A count of people reached by a programme is different from a count of people who need assistance; a cumulative casualty figure is different from a newly reported incident. Where access prevents independent observation, that limitation belongs in the report. An agency's own operational data can be valuable primary evidence without independently verifying every claim made by another institution. Changes in a published estimate should be explained rather than silently substituted into an older headline.

Political and legal reporting requires the same care. Read a court decision, official order or institutional statement for what it actually says, distinguish it from commentary about its likely effects and check whether implementation has been documented. A statement by an authority or an armed group is an attributed account. Repetition by several publishers may still trace back to that one account. The corroboration label is reserved for evidence produced independently, with the nature of that independence explained in the story's verification note.

Community tags are used only when identity is explicit and relevant. Palestinian refugees have a separate hub; refugee status should never be inferred from an address or a person's name. Map markers use the least precise location useful to understand the news and exclude vulnerable sites or current operational movements. Follow the sources, uncertainty note and revision history to understand how an account has developed. A story can remain readable after its routine map pin expires, and its significance should be assessed from its content rather than its continued presence on the map.
